The UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) has forwarded IAG, the parent company of British Airways, a notification stating that the airline will face £183.4 million fine. The airline is accused of non-compliance with the data protection law, because in late August, early September 2018, a hacker attack was made on the IAG website and mobile application. Data of more than 185 thousand British Airways passengers were stolen, including information on 380 thousand credit cards. The penalty is 1.5% of the global turnover of British Airways for 2017. The airline, the website and mobile application of which suffered from a hacker attack, will provide the regulator with the necessary explanations and is ready to defend its position, including the filing of appeals, because during the audit carried out by its management immediately after the attack, no fraudulent transactions were made on customer accounts.
