Number of applications for unemployment benefits in the US last week did not change

Last week, the number of US citizens, who had applied for unemployment benefits for the first time, was 211,000, remaining unchanged from the previous week, the country's Ministry of Labor reported. Experts had expected the growth of the indicator to 219 thousand. The average number of applications for the last four weeks decreased from 221.5 thousand to 216 thousand, which is the lowest value since 1969. The number of Americans, who continue to receive unemployment benefits, for the week ended April 28, increased by 30 thousand to 1 million 790 thousand, the analysts had predicted this amount at the level of 1 million 800 thousand people.
