The net profit of the Italian bank Intesa Sanpaolo grew by 39% year-on-year to €1 billion 250 million in the first quarter, thanks to an increase in net interest income, commission fees and insurance revenue. Analysts had expected the profit to decrease to 890 million euros. Quarterly revenues increased to 4 billion 810 million euros from 4 billion 210 million euros, while the experts had predicted 4.4 billion euros. Net interest income increased by 2.8%. Commission income increased to 2 billion 10 million euros. Revenues of the insurance business reached 294 million euros.
